Albania: Authorities to tighten COVID-19 domestic controls from Sept. 1 and entry restrictions from Sept. 7 /update 29
Albania to strengthen COVID-19 domestic restrictions from Sept. 1 and international travel controls from Sept. 7. Disruptions likely.
Event
Albania plans to tighten COVID-19-related domestic restrictions from Sept. 1 and international entry restrictions from Sept. 7.
Authorities are bringing the daily curfew forward by one hour from Sept. 1; curfew hours will now run 23:00-06:00. During curfew hours, individuals may leave their homes only for essential purposes. Facemasks remain mandatory in indoor public spaces except for bars or restaurants. Capacity limits are in effect for most premises, and gatherings are capped at 50 people.
Starting Sept. 7, all travelers to Albania will need to present either a certificate of full COVID-19 vaccination, a certificate indicating recovery from the virus within the last six months, a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival, or a negative rapid antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before arrival. All land borders are open, and no quarantine requirements are in place.
International flights and maritime passenger transport continue to operate to and from Albania. Air passengers must sign a COVID-19 declaration before boarding their flight and could undergo health screening measures. Those displaying symptoms of COVID-19 will be barred from entry.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
