Cyrpus: Port workers launch indefinite strike in Limassol as of Aug. 3

Unionized port workers in Limassol have launched an indefinite strike as of Aug. 3 to demand DP World sign a collective agreement. Union representatives said the labor action, which began the previous day, would continue until the company addresses their demands. The work stoppage has reportedly impacted at least three cargo vessels. Talks between the union, the Ministry of Labor, and DP World are ongoing.

Disruptions to port operations, including general cargo and passenger ferry services, are almost certain during the strike. Demonstrations by striking workers are also possible outside of the port. Lingering shipping delays could occur after the action ends as port workers clear backlogs.
