Moldova: Authorities amend COVID-19-related international travel rules as of Aug. 18 /update 21
Moldova amends COVID-19-related entry restrictions as of Aug. 18; domestic restrictions remain unchanged.
Event
Authorities in Moldova have amended COVID-19-related international entry restrictions as of Aug. 18. Under the current restrictions, countries are no longer divided into red or green categories; instead, travelers from all locations are subject to the same entry requirements.
International arrivals must present either a certificate of vaccination, a certificate of recovery, a negative PCR test taken in the 72 hours prior to entry, or a negative antigen test taken in the 48 hours prior to entry. Vaccine certificates are valid from 14 days after the final dose was administered. Certificates of recovery are valid between 15 and 180 days after confirmation of infection or 90 days after a positive antibody test.
Permitted travelers unable to meet these requirements must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival; isolation can be ended early following a negative COVID-19 test taken no less than seven days after arrival.
Domestic Restrictions
Most businesses in Moldova are permitted to operate provided they adhere to social distancing and capacity requirements. Facemasks are mandatory in enclosed public spaces and on public transport. Stricter measures are in place in areas with higher infection rates, including tighter limits on gatherings and reduced operating hours for certain sectors.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity.

Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
