Authorities are investigating a passenger bus explosion in Voronezh that killed one person and wounded at least 18 others as of early Aug. 13. The incident reportedly occurred at around 21:24 the previous day near the Chizhova Gallery on Koltsovskaya Ulitsa. Officials have yet to confirm the cause of the explosion, though police have opened a criminal investigation. Unconfirmed reports suggest a faulty gas canister installed on the roof of the bus may have exploded.

Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely around the blast site through early Aug. 13.
