Authorities in South Korea have extended Level-4 restrictions in Greater Seoul, including Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, through Aug. 22 due to continued high levels of COVID-19 activity. The government continues to residents to restrict gatherings and activities outside of the home as much as possible. Officials limit groups to four people through 18:00 and two people from 18:00 daily and count vaccinated individuals in group totals. Demonstrations, except for one-person rallies, are banned. A facemask requirement remains in effect for all residents, regardless of vaccination status.
Most businesses in Greater Seoul can operate on-site at reduced capacities, with an exception for manufacturers. Authorities limit booking at hotels to two-thirds of capacity, and accommodations cannot host events for guests. Restaurants can only service dine-in customers until 22:00. Entertainment businesses, including nightclubs and pubs, remain closed, and spectators cannot attend sporting events.
Authorities will probably maintain tightened security measures, such as deploying additional personnel, in Greater Seoul through Aug. 22. Transport and business disruptions are likely to continue.
