South Sudan tighten domestic COVID-19-related measures through at least Sept. 30. Nationwide 22:00-06:00 curfew in effect.

Warning

Event

Authorities in South Sudan have issued orders tightening certain domestic COVID-19-related restrictions through at least Sept. 30. As of Aug. 30, a nationwide 22:00-06:00 curfew remains in place. All gatherings are limited to five people in an open space while gatherings for unvaccinated individuals must not exceed more than two persons. Additionally, all residents are required to use protective facemasks in public places.

International Travel
Domestic and international flights are operating. Incoming international travelers arriving at Juba International Airport (JUB) require South Sudan's National Taskforce's permission before entering the country. Permitted travelers must present a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within 96 hours before arriving in South Sudan. Travelers are exempt from quarantine if they have documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination (completed at least two weeks before traveling) or evidence of a positive PCR test result within the six months prior to travel. Travelers and airline operators must also comply with preventive measures, including wearing protective facemasks and social distancing. All aircraft must undergo disinfection after arrival. The nation's land borders are open; however, cross-border movement remains mostly limited due to restrictions implemented by neighboring countries.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity.

Advice

Confirm all planned travel arrangements. Plan accordingly for protracted commercial, transport, and logistics disruptions. Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Consider delaying travel if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
