Ecuador: Protests and clashes reported near Limonal Sept. 15

Protesting rice growers demanding higher prices for their product are blocking Highway E48 between Daule and Santa Lucia and are clashing with police near Limonal, Guayas Region, Sept. 15. Police have fired tear gas in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators.

Significant transport and business disruptions are likely throughout the Limonal area for the duration of the protests.
