Security forces in Cetinje city have fired tear gas as well as stun grenades against protesters Sept. 5. The purpose of the action is to oppose the enthronement of Joanikije as head of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral in the monastery of Cetinje.

Large crowds and associated security measures, including road closures and movement restrictions, could result in n localized transport disruptions. Additional clashes can not be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid the protest as a routine security precaution and to mitigate associated disruptions. Heed instructions from security services and leave the area at the first sign of a confrontation. Check for transport disruptions and allow extra time for travel in the affected area Sept. 5.
