Armed group attacks a Russian security convoy in Bombo, Mambere-Kadei Prefecture, CAR, Oct. 2. At least three killed.
Event
The 3R (Retour, Reclamation, et Rehabilitation) militia group reportedly ambushed a Russian security convoy in Bombo, Mambere-Kadei Prefecture, Oct. 2. Three Russian paramilitary soldiers and two rebels were killed in the ensuing clashes.
Context
Despite the signing of the Feb. 5, 2019 peace agreement between 14 armed groups, rebels continue to pose a threat throughout CAR. The 3R rebel group has suspended participation in the ongoing peace process with the government since early June 2021. Further violence attributed to the group is likely.
