Bridge collapses near Colon-Quimis, Manabi Province, Ecuador, Oct. 14. Transit on Highway 482 halted in both directions in the area.
Event
A small bridge on the border between the cantons of Jipijapa and Montecristi in Manabi Province, near the Colon-Quimis area, collapsed Oct. 14. The collapse has forced the closure of Highway 482 in both directions, cutting off transit between the towns of Sancan and La Pila.
Transport disruptions are likely to persist on the affected section of the route through at least Oct. 15.
Advice
Consider delaying travel on the affected section of Highway 482 until the bridge is repaired, or seek alternative routes, such as highways 462B, 30, 483, or 15. Heed the instructions of emergency personnel.
