Informational

Event

Ranhill Utilities Berhad, the water supply company for Johor State, announced that unscheduled water disruptions are expected to affect parts of Johor as of Oct. 13. The company attributed the disruptions to a fire at the Semangar Water Treatment Plant that occurred Oct. 12. Affected areas include Austin, Gelang Patah, Kempas, Kulai, Nusajaya, Pulai, Sedenak, Seelong, Senai, and Skudai. The water disruption will also affect the Royal Customs Department, Tanjung Pelepas Port, and Senai International Airport (JHB), among other locations.

Business disruptions are possible during water disruptions or outages, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water for their operations.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
