New Caledonia: Air Caledonie flight disruptions to continue until at least Nov. 1

Air Caledonie flight disruptions to continue in New Caledonia until at least Nov. 1. Confirm transport arrangements.

Critical

Event

Air Caledonie (TY) flight disruptions will continue in New Caledonia until at least Nov. 1. The airline canceled flights between Noumea and Lifou's Ouanaham Airport (LIF, Wanaham Airport) after local officials closed the airport to protest the government's health pass requirement for travel. TY previously canceled flights to all other domestic destinations and reduced its flight schedule to LIF due to operational constraints.

The duration of LIF's closure remains unclear, and further disruptions are possible after Nov. 1. Alternatively, dialogue between the government and traditional leaders in Lifou could result in flights resuming earlier than anticipated.

Advice

Contact TY to reschedule flights or make alternative arrangements, if necessary. Do not check out of accommodations until verifying onward travel.
