Even outside curfew hours, people present in the affected areas are prohibited from carrying weapons, ammunition, or any other similar material. Local authorities may also enact additional restrictive measures. Authorities imposed the curfews as a result of growing insecurity and violence linked to old grievances and communal disputes in the aforementioned areas; some of the curfews have been in effect for years. To access the latest the government communiques and updates to security curfew implemented, consult the Ministry of Interior website here.
An increased security presence, as well as movement and commercial disruptions, is likely to persist in the affected areas. Locals opposed to the measure could stage protests; police will likely move forcefully to disperse any gatherings that may materialize.
Advice
Abide by the conditions of the curfew, heed the directives of local authorities, and carry personal identification documents. Plan for movement and business disruptions. Avoid all demonstrations.
