Namibia: Officials update COVID-19-related measures, as of Nov. 15 /update 27
Officials update COVID-19-related international travel requirements and increase public gathering limits in Namibia as of Nov.15.
Event
Officials have updated domestic and international COVID-19 restrictions through at least Dec. 15.
Domestic Restrictions
Effective Nov. 16, limits on public gatherings are increased from 200 to 500 people. Casinos and bars are able to operate at a 50-percent capacity. Facemasks are mandatory in public spaces.
International Travel
Effective Nov. 15, verified COVID-19 test result via the Trusted Travel system will be operational to enter the country. EffectiveDec. 1, only test results obtained from the Trusted Travel Platform or verified on the Global Haven system will be valid for entry into Namibia.
A negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained seven days before arrival in Namibia is required for travel to the country.
Travelers who arrived without a test result or with a result outside the outlined period will be subject to quarantine and a test. Travelers will remain in quarantine until negative test results are returned.
Returning citizens and permanent residents that have a certified de-isolation (successful quarantine) from the government of the country of departure will not be subject to quarantine.
Travel for tourism via land or sea is limited to select ports of entry, including the Katima Mulilo, Ariamsvlei, and Noordoewer border posts and Walvis Bay Harbor.
Officials could amend restrictions at short notice. Authorities will issue fines to persons not complying with the COVID-19-related measures.
