Informational

Event

Further student protests are possible in Akungba Okoko (commonly known as Akungba), Ondo State, through late November following unrest at the University of Adekunle Ajasin Nov. 22. Protesters gathered to denounce tuition fees and blocked Ikare Road, disrupting traffic and businesses for hours. As a result, education officials closed the university until further notice as of Nov. 22.

Increased security is likely nearby the university over the coming days. Should protests occur, localized traffic and business disruptions are likely, and the potential for clashes with security forces is elevated.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations. Allow additional time to reach destinations near the university. If violence breaks out, leave the area immediately, and take shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building.
