Opposing groups plan to hold protests outside the annual general assembly of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, in Baltimore, Maryland, Nov. 15-16. On Nov. 15, members and supporters of several organizations, including Catholics for Choice and the Women's Ordination Conference, plan to rally outside the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, venue of the general assembly, to protest what they allege is the politization of the bishops. The rally is scheduled to start at 13:00.

On Nov. 16, members and supporters of the group Church Militant plan to gather at the MECU Pavilion, starting at 10:00, to hold a rally and conference, to protest what they consider is the increasing liberalization of the Catholic Church.

Hundreds are likely to participate in each of the rallies. Heightened security around the assembly and the protests is likely, with localized transport and business disruptions. Clashes are unlikely to occur but cannot be ruled out.
