Barbados extends COVID-19 restrictions with slight changes through Jan. 6; shorter curfew in place during the night of Dec. 31-Jan. 1.
Event
Authorities in Barbados have extended most COVID-19 restrictions on international travel and domestic activities through at least Jan. 6. While the nightly curfew will remain in place, it will be shortened the night of Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Those attending public events must be fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours prior to the event.
Domestic Measures
A 00:01-05:00 curfew remains in place, with the exception of the night of Dec. 31, when it will be only between 02:00-05:00 Jan. 1. During curfew hours, only those providing essential services, and those responding to an emergency may leave their homes.
All businesses, except for nightclubs, are allowed to operate provided they adhere to strict protocols on the use of protective facemasks, social distancing, and sanitation, as well as other industry-specific guidelines. Fast-food restaurants may only offer delivery or takeaway services; cinemas may accommodate no more than 100 people, and bars can operate outdoors only. Those attending events must be either fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test taken within the 24 hours prior.
Remote work is encouraged where possible. Wearing a facemask remains mandatory in all public spaces; children under five years of age are exempt.
International Travel Restrictions
All incoming international travelers must present a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Travelers must also submit an immigration and customs form either online or in hard copy to authorities by the time of arrival. The form is available online or on the BIMSafe mobile application.
Fully vaccinated travelers may be selected to take a rapid antigen test upon arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI). Individuals may travel through the country upon receiving a negative result.
Unvaccinated travelers must complete a mandatory quarantine period at a government-approved accommodation; they must also undergo another PCR test on their fifth day in the country and may leave quarantine if this test result is negative.
Any traveler who tests positive for COVID-19 must enter an isolation facility. All travelers must wear facemasks at BGI.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
