Warning

Event

Authorities in Barbados have issued orders to extend current COVID-19 restrictions on international travel and domestic activities without change through at least Dec. 29. While the nightly curfew will remain in place, it will be suspended for the night of Dec. 24-25 for the Christmas holiday observance.

Domestic Measures
A number of COVID-19-related domestic restrictions remain in place in Barbados. All businesses, except for nightclubs, are allowed to operate provided they adhere to strict protocols on the use of protective facemasks, social distancing, and sanitation, as well as other industry-specific guidelines. Fast-food restaurants may only offer delivery or takeaway services; cinemas may accommodate no more than 100 people. Remote work is encouraged where possible.

Individuals must adhere to physical distancing protocols of 1.8 meters (6 feet) in indoor settings and 1 meter (3 feet) in outdoor settings. Wearing a facemask remains mandatory in all public spaces; children under five years of age are exempt. During the island's nightly 00:01-05:00 curfew, all persons, except those providing an essential service or attending to an emergency, must remain in their homes.

Religious ceremonies, wedding services, and funerals may take place with up to 25 people. Private parties are banned.

International Travel Restrictions
All incoming international travelers must present a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Moreover, in order to enter Barbados, all travelers must submit an immigration and customs form either online or in hard copy to authorities by the time of arrival. The form is available online or on the BIMSafe mobile application.

Fully vaccinated travelers may be selected to take a rapid antigen test upon arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI). Individuals may travel through the country upon receiving a negative result.

Unvaccinated travelers must complete a mandatory quarantine period at a government-approved accommodation; they must also undergo another PCR test on their fifth day in the country and may leave quarantine if this test result is negative.

Any traveler who tests positive for COVID-19 must enter an isolation facility. All travelers must wear facemasks at BGI.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
