El Salvador: Authorities maintain COVID-19-related measures largely unchanged as of Dec. 15 /update 29

Authorities in El Salvador maintain COVID-19-related domestic and international travel measures largely unchanged as of Dec. 15.

Warning

Event

Authorities in El Salvador have lifted most international travel restrictions as of Dec. 15. The country has continued to impose no testing or vaccination requirements for international travel. The health ministry has advised those in the country to avoid large gatherings and parties during the Christmas holiday period.

Domestic Measures
Most businesses are allowed to continue operating but may be required to adhere to industry-specific protocols, including limits on capacity and opening times as part of authorities' efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. Some permitted major events, including sports events, can require those attending to present either proof of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test result.

Authorities recommend that all individuals wear a protective facemask in public settings. All businesses must enhance sanitation procedures, ensure compliance with social distancing measures, and promote the use of facemasks by employees.

International Travel Restrictions
There are still no testing or vaccination requirements for arrivals in El Salvador as of Dec. 15. However, certain health protocols and screenings remain in place at airports, including temperature checks, requirements on wearing facemasks, and social distancing. Persons showing symptoms of infection may be subject to a period of quarantine at the discretion of the authorities.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements.
