Increased security measures and localized transport and business disruptions are likely through at least Dec. 28 in Kfar Qasim following a car explosion. Emergency services personnel responded to a car that caught fire following a suspected bombing attempt the morning of Dec. 28. Two people were injured in the incident; security forces maintain the incident is linked to organized crime and may have been an assassination attempt.
The incident comes two days after a similar event occurred in Ramla Dec. 26, which left one person dead and two others injured. The explosion also comes amid authorities' efforts to contain violence in Arab-Israeli communities.
Kfar Qasim is about 17 km (11 miles) northeast of Tel Aviv.
