The Union Syndicale des Magistrats (USM) has called for a strike in Noumea Dec. 15 as part of a nationwide labor action in France over alleged poor working conditions. While participation in the strike is unclear, the work stoppage could impact legal proceedings. USM members in the capital plan to rally at the Noumea Court of First Instance from 11:30 in support of the action. Dozens of people could join the rally.
Security personnel will likely monitor gatherings. Roadblocks are possible if magistrates march outside the court. Significant disruptions are unlikely during the demonstration, but localized transport disruptions may occur.
