The Nigeria Labour Congress (NCL) has called for nationwide protests on Jan. 27 and Feb. 1 2022 to denounce the planned removal of fuel subsidies that would lead to increased petrol prices. NCL representatives also announced that nationwide protests may take place ahead of the planned events should authorities further increase fuel prices. Organizers have not yet announced specific gathering locations and times. Larger gatherings will likely take place in major urban centers such as Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt. Participants could demonstrate outside government offices, fuel depots and oil company offices, and may also block major road routes.
