Other impacted states include Anzoategui, Apure, Aragua, Barinas, Bolivar, Carabobo, Falcon, Lara, Merida, Miranda, Nueva Esparta, Portuguesa, Sucre, Tachira, Trujillo, Vargas, Yaracuy, and Zulia. The outage, which began around 02:00, was reportedly caused by a failure at the Guri Reservoir hydroelectric dam. Authorities have not stated when they expect power to be restored.
