The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a tsunami warning for Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, and New South Wales, late Jan. 15, in response to a volcanic eruption at Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'pai in Tonga. Officials have warned of dangerous rips and waves, strong currents, and some localized overflow into the immediate foreshore in the impacted locations. People are advised to leave and move away from the immediate edge of the water.
