Warning

Event

Authorities in French Guiana are maintaining COVID-19-related restrictions through at least Jan. 24. Under the current measures, a 20:30-05:00 curfew is in effect in certain municipalities. Other rules, including on international travel, are also in force.

Domestic Measures
A 20:30-05:00 curfew is in effect in the municipalities of Apatou, Awala-Yalimapo, Cayenne, Grand-Santi, Iracoubo, Kourou, Macouria, Mana, Maripasoula, Matoury, Montsinery-Tonnegrande, Papaichton, Regina, Remire-Montjoly, Roura, Saint-Laurent du Maroni, and Sinnamary. During curfew hours, all persons must remain in their homes except to travel to work, receive medical care, or attend to a compelling family issue, such as the provision of care for children or the elderly. Travel between hotels, to and from airports, and for long-distance trips can occur during curfew hours, as may limited movement outdoors for exercise. Most gatherings in municipalities under curfew orders are limited to a maximum of 10 people, and retail businesses in the municipalities must implement certain sanitary and social distancing measures.

Throughout French Guiana, all persons aged 11 and older must wear a facemask in public where maintaining a distance of two meters is impossible and when attending any gathering.

International Travel Restrictions
Only fully vaccinated individuals may enter French Guiana without a compelling reason for travel. People who are 65 and older must receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated.

Most travelers must show a negative result from a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 24 hours before departure for French Guiana. Travelers from Guadeloupe or Martinique must show the results from a PCR test taken no less than 72 hours before or an antigen test taken no more than 48 prior to departure.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements.
