Warning

Event

Authorities in French Guiana have modified the restrictions imposed on the territory to stem the spread of COVID-19. A 22:30-05:00 curfew is in effect until at least Jan. 17 in certain municipalities. Other restrictions, including international travel, are also in force.

Domestic Measures
A 22:30-05:00 curfew is in effect in the municipalities of Cayenne, Kourou, Macouria, Matoury, Remire-Montjoly, and Saint-Laurent du Maroni. During curfew hours, all persons must remain in their homes except to travel to work, receive medical care, or attend to a compelling family issue, such as the provision of care for children or the elderly. Travel between hotels and to and from airports can occur during curfew hours, as is limited movement outdoors for exercise. Most gatherings in municipalities under curfew orders are limited to a maximum of ten people.

Throughout the territory, other health regulations are in effect. All persons aged 11 and older must wear a facemask in public where maintaining a distance of two meters is impossible and when attending any gathering. Stores can operate, albeit with modified capacity limits based on the total area of the establishments.

International Travel Restrictions
Only fully vaccinated individuals may enter French Guiana without a compelling reason for travel. People who are 65 and older must receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated.

Most travelers must show a negative result from a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 24 hours before departure for French Guiana. Travelers from Guadeloupe or Martinique must show the results from a PCR test taken no less than 72 hours before or an antigen test taken no more than 48 prior to departure.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements.
