Further protests are likely over the coming days in Boffa, Boke Region, after demonstrations over mining operations in the town Jan. 11. Activists in the Tamita and Lisso communities of Boffa have reportedly set up barricades and blocked some routes amid tensions over alleged employment discrimination, low salaries, and unfair dismissals. Activities at the port were also reportedly suspended. Activists have threatened to continue their protest movement until their demands are met.
