Further student demonstrations are likely in Conakry in the coming days after protests took place at Gamal Abdel Nasser University and General Lansana Conte University Jan. 20. The purpose of the demonstrations was to demand better equipment and transport services. Security forces used tear gas to disperse crowds and arrested several students. Localized transport disruptions were reported in the vicinity of both universities.
