Kuwait, Iraq: Kuwait Airways suspends flights to and from Iraq through at least Feb. 5

Kuwait-based Kuwait Airways suspends flights to and from Iraq through at least Feb. 5. Reconfirm flights.

Warning

Event

Kuwait Airways (KU) issued a statement Jan. 29 noting that it was suspending flights to and from Iraq for seven days from Jan. 30. The decision was prompted by instructions from Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation due to 'current conditions' in Iraq. KU did not expand on the reasoning. The suspension follows the firing of several rockets into Baghdad International Airport (BGW), Jan. 28. The rocket fire damaged an Iraqi Airways (IA) plane.

Advice

Reconfirm all flights between Kuwait and Iraq. Prepare for disruptions or delays on alternative available transport options.
