Protests and associated clashes with Israeli security forces are ongoing near the Birzeit University campus and other surrounding towns, including Al-Bireh and Beit El in the West Bank, as of Jan. 11. The protests are in response to Israeli security forces detaining five Birzeit University students on Jan. 10. Security forces have fired tear gas and rubber bullets at large crowds. At least 12 protesters have been injured, including unconfirmed reports of one security force member.

Authorities will likely increase security to monitor for any additional protests or clashes. Transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of any protest site.
