Authorities are conducting search and rescue operations at the site of a partial building collapse in the Seo District of Gwangju as of Jan. 12. A section of an under-construction apartment building collapsed near the Gwangju Bus Terminal the afternoon of Jan. 11. One person has reportedly been injured; six workers are missing in the debris. Traffic on nearby streets is disrupted due to rubble. Officials have evacuated nearby shops and residential buildings as a precaution.
Heightened security and localized transport and business disruptions are likely to continue until rescue and clearance operations conclude.
