Fighting between rival communities left at least 32 people dead and 17 others injured in Bor County, Jonglei State, Jan. 23. According to local officials, the fighting erupted after a youth group from the neighboring Greater Pibor Administrative Area launched an attack. The assailants also burned down several homes and stole at least 2600 cattle. Bor is located approximately 151 km (94 miles) north of Juba.
A heightened security presence is likely in the area over the coming days. Further attacks are possible in the region over the near term.
