Supporters of the Peoples' Democratic Party are attempting to gather in Istanbul's Sirinevler Square, Jan. 2. Police have reportedly deployed and are blocking the demonstration. Protesters are gathering to denounce a recent attack on a party office in Istanbul's Bahcelievler District by an armed assailant, Dec. 28, which left one person injured. Police arrested the assailant. Dozens to a few hundred people are participating in the gathering.
