Barbados: Authorities update COVID-19-related quarantine requirements for unvaccinated travelers as of Feb. 8 /update 46

Barbados updates COVID-19-related quarantine requirements for unvaccinated travelers as of Feb. 8; curfew still in effect.

Warning

Event

As of Feb. 8, officials in Barbados have shortened the quarantine period for unvaccinated travelers from five to three days. However, authorities require unvaccinated arrivals to undergo a second COVID-19 test on day four, and these travelers may only exit quarantine once the test result is ready. Therefore, officials encourage unvaccinated travelers to book at least five days at an approved accommodation to allow enough time to receive the test result. Authorities have kept most other COVID-19-related measures largely unchanged.

Domestic Measures
A nightly 00:01-05:00 curfew remains in place. Only those providing essential services and responding to an emergency may leave their homes during curfew hours.

All businesses, except for nightclubs, are allowed to operate provided they adhere to strict protocols on the use of protective facemasks, social distancing, and sanitation, as well as other industry-specific guidelines. Bars can only operate outdoors. Those attending events must be either fully vaccinated or have a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within the 24 hours prior.

Remote work is encouraged where possible. Wearing a facemask remains mandatory in all public spaces; children under five years of age are exempt.

International Travel Restrictions
To enter Barbados, incoming international travelers must present a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival or present a negative result from a rapid PCR test taken within 24 hours before arrival. Travelers must also submit an immigration and customs form either online or in hard copy to authorities by the time of arrival. The form is available online or on the BIMSafe mobile application.

Fully vaccinated travelers may be selected to take a rapid antigen test upon arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI). Individuals may travel through the country upon receiving a negative result. All travelers must wear a facemask at BGI.

Unvaccinated travelers must complete a mandatory quarantine period at a government-approved accommodation; they must also undergo another PCR test on their fourth day in the country and may leave quarantine if this test result is negative. Any traveler who tests positive for COVID-19 must enter an isolation facility.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
