Activists in Europe plan to stage rallies in support of Ukraine in the coming days amid Russia's formal recognition of two breakaway regions in the southeast of Ukraine and the subsequent deployment of Russian troops in the area. Notably, on Feb. 23, activists in the UK will gather outside the Russian Embassy in Kensington Palace Gardens, London, for a rally from 18:00. The following solidarity rallies have also been confirmed:

Feb. 25

  • Dublin, Ireland: Rally at the Russian Embassy on Orwell Road from 15:00

Feb. 26

  • Munich, Germany: Rally in Karlsplatz from 11:00

  • Oslo, Norway: Rally in Eidsvolls Plass from 12:00

Local police will likely deploy additional forces to monitor the gatherings in each city. Several hundred activists will likely attend each event. Related security measures could prompt localized disruptions. Violence is not anticipated.
