Lithuania: Authorities to ease COVID-19 related travel restrictions as of Feb. 15 /update 40
Lithuania to ease COVID-19 related international travel restrictions from Feb. 15. Some domestic restrictions remain in place.
Event
Lithuania will ease the COVID-19 international travel restrictions. Starting Feb. 15 unvaccinated travelers from the EU, the Schengen Area, as well as the UK, will no longer need to present a negative COVID test. Authorities had previously lifted the requirement for these travelers to self-isolate upon entry Feb. 5.
From the same date, authorities will allow non-essential travel for citizens and permanent residents of certain non-Schengen ''third countries'' including Albania, Armenia, Cape Verde, the Faroe Islands, Israel, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Panama, El Salvador, Serbia, Singapore, Northern Macedonia, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Togo, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, Uruguay, and the US. These travelers need to present either a certificate of vaccination, recovery, or a negative test; authorities accept PCR tests no older than 72 hours prior to entry, or antigen tests no older than 48 hours prior to entry. Authorities lifted the requirement for self-isolation for all travelers from ''third countries'' Feb. 14.
Domestic Measures
Lithuania remains in a state of emergency. Most businesses and services are operating subject to social distancing and capacity restrictions. Facemasks remain mandatory in enclosed public spaces.
A National Certificate (COVID passport) is required to access many non-essential businesses and services. National Certificates are available to individuals who have been vaccinated against COVID-19, have recovered from COVID-19 within the previous 210 days, or have recently tested negative for COVID-19. Individuals who meet these criteria can apply for the National Certificate in the form of a QR code online. COVID passports are not required to access grocery stores, pharmacies, and other businesses or services deemed essential.
International Travel Restrictions
An entry ban on travelers outside of the Schengen Area and approved "third countries" remains in place.
All arrivals must fill out an online entry questionnaire no more than 48 hours prior to arrival, available by clicking here.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
