Informational

Event

Effective Feb. 28, Peru has abolished its system of varying COVID-19-related restrictions based on province. Other nationwide health measures and travel restrictions remain in place.

Domestic Measures
All persons must wear KN95 facemasks in all indoor public places. Persons who do not have a KN95 facemask may use a pleated surgical mask with another cloth mask on top of it.

In order to board a domestic flight or interprovincial bus, all persons 12 and older must show either proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or negative results of a COVID-19 test taken no more than 48 hours before departure.

Proof of being fully vaccinated is necessary for all persons aged 18 or older to enter most commercial locations, including stores, supermarkets, restaurants, casinos, theaters, banks, museums, offices where customers are present, and salons. All employees who do not work remotely must provide proof of vaccination to enter their workplaces. All persons 12 or older must be vaccinated to enter any stadium, beach, pool, river, or lake.

International Travel Restrictions
All arriving passengers aged 12 or older must either present proof of being vaccinated against COVID-19 or a negative result from a COVID-19 molecular test taken within 48 hours before their flight. Asymptomatic children under 12 years of age are exempt from vaccination and testing requirements. Travelers must also complete a health affidavit within 72 hours before travel and may be subject to a health assessment upon arrival; to access the pre-travel health affidavit, click here.

Authorities could tighten, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments. Plan for queues and delays at available shopping centers.
