Albania: Authorities lift previously enforced COVID-19-related nightly curfew as of March 3 /update 35
Albania lifts COVID-19-related nightly curfew as of March 3; some domestic measures and international travel restrictions remain in effect.
Event
Albanian authorities have lifted the country's previously enforced COVID-19-related curfew as of March 2. The curfew, which was most recently in effect 23:00-06:00 nightly, had been in place in the country in some form since March 2020.
Domestic Measures
Wearing a facemask remains mandatory in indoor public spaces and on public transport. Capacity limits are in effect for some events; outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 people, provided adherence to public health regulations. Those who test positive for COVID-19 must self-isolate for five days.
International Travel Restrictions
All of Albania's land borders are open. Travelers older than six years of age need to present either a certificate indicating that they were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days before arrival, a valid document indicating recovery from COVID-19 within the last six months, a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival, or a negative result from a rapid antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before arrival. Albanian nationals returning to the country without one of the abovementioned documents can quarantine for 10 days and take a COVID-19 test at the end of the isolation period.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
