French Guiana: Authorities ease COVID-19-related restrictions March 21 /update 41

Officials in French Guiana ease COVID-19-related restrictions March 21.

Warning

Event

Authorities in French Guiana have issued orders to lift multiple COVID-19-related restrictions as of March 21. Under the new directives, individuals no longer require proof of vaccination (Passe Sanitaire) to enter businesses, and the use of facemasks is no longer required in most indoor public establishments, but they are still required on public transport. Other restrictions remain unchanged.

Domestic Measures
Other than the aforementioned restrictions, there are no other measures in place.

International Travel Restrictions
Only fully vaccinated individuals may enter French Guiana without a compelling reason for travel. Individuals must receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated. They may also be considered fully vaccinated if they received the initial doses of the vaccine and recently recovered from a COVID-19 infection.

Most travelers must show a negative result from a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 24 hours before departure for French Guiana. Fully vaccinated travelers from Guadeloupe or Martinique do not require a pre-travel test to enter French Guiana.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements.
