Clashes were reported between border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the Eki-Rash area of Kyrgyzstan's Batken Region, March 11. Border guards also clashed near the village of Teseki, Batken Region, March 10. The cause of the confrontation is unclear but likely related to ongoing border disputes in the region. There were no reports of casualties. Officials from both sides are reportedly negotiating to calm tensions. Authorities in Batken have been placed on alert.
