North Macedonia: Authorities ease certain COVID-19-related restrictions as of March 9 /update 44
North Macedonia eases some COVID-19-related restrictions as of March 9.
Event
Authorities in North Macedonia are easing certain COVID-19-related restrictions. As of March 9, certificates of recovery from COVID-19 will be valid for 180 days instead of the previous 45 days. In addition, individuals will no longer need to present COVID-19 certificates to enter malls. Evidence of having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or having recovered from COVID-19 within the last 180 days remains required to enter bars, restaurants, or cafes or attend any events, including conferences, training sessions, workshops, and celebrations.
In addition, negative COVID tests or proof of vaccination are no longer required to leave the country; such documentation is still required to enter North Macedonia.
Domestic Measures
Most businesses and facilities can operate, provided they implement certain hygiene and social distancing measures. Facemasks are mandatory in indoor public spaces.
International Travel Restrictions
All persons arriving in the country must present either a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within the previous 72 hours, proof of full vaccination, or proof of having recovered from COVID-19 within the previous 90 days. Arrivals traveling without such evidence must self-isolate for seven days. Foreigners can transit through North Macedonia without these documents provided they leave the country within five hours. Land borders are open and international flights are operating, albeit on reduced schedules. Individuals arriving by air may be subject to health screening on arrival and may have to undergo quarantine measures if displaying COVID-19 symptoms.
Authorities could extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
