Timor-Leste: Officials require entrants to either show a full vaccination certificate or quarantine upon arrival as of March 17 /update 49
Timor-Leste requires entrants to either show proof of full vaccination or quarantine upon arrival as of March 17. Domestic curbs ongoing.
Event
Officials have eased inbound travel rules as of March 17 due to decreased local COVID-19 activity. Entrants must now either show a full vaccination certificate or quarantine for up to 14 days at designated facilities upon arrival.
Domestic Measures
Individuals must either be fully vaccinated or present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within the previous five days to access some administrative services. Authorities continue to require people to wear facemasks, frequently sanitize their hands, and maintain a 1 meter (3 feet) distance from others when in public. The government may reintroduce stricter measures in some localities at short notice, depending on changes in COVID-19 activity. The enforcement level of measures is unclear.
International Travel Restrictions
Authorities continue to suspend entry for most foreigners. Exemptions are in place for diplomatic personnel, members of international organizations and bilateral cooperation agencies, petroleum sector workers, and medical emergencies, among others.
Land border checkpoints and posts have resumed normal operations without limits to the opening hours. Timor-Leste officials have approved visa exemption for diplomatic and service passport holders from Cambodia and Thailand.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments. Plan for queues and delays at available shopping centers. Plan for possible ground shipping and travel delays; seek alternative routes and shipping methods for time-sensitive cargo.
