Informational

Event

Activists opposed to government-imposed COVID-19 restrictions and mandates are protesting on the lawns of Parliament House the morning of April 9. Organizers said the demonstration will continue until 14:00. A few dozens of people are participating in the protest, but crowds could grow in the coming hours as attendees hold street marches or vehicle convoys to the rally venue from other locations. Protesters could also try to gather at other locations in the Australian Capital Territory in the coming hours.

Security forces will almost certainly monitor the rally. Further transport disruptions are possible, especially if protesters march or drive in convoys to alternative protest venues.

Advice

Avoid the rally due to possible violence. If clashes break out, leave the area immediately. Follow all security personnel instructions. Allow additional travel time near the demonstration site and along Commonwealth Avenue.
