Informational

Event

Drivers of app-based ride-hailing services in Delhi have ended their strike as of April 21 after talks with government officials. The work stoppage, which initially involved all taxis, autorickshaws, and some private buses in Delhi, resulted in significant disruptions to the availability of private hire vehicles, mainly on April 18, when the strike began. Driver unions called for the work stoppage to denounce gas price hikes and demand the government subsidize transport workers. Other groups of drivers withdrew their action late April 18.

Drivers have held related protests in Delhi since April 8; organizers have warned of additional actions if authorities fail to fulfill their demands by May 4.
