Senegal: Protest in Dakar April 16

The COCICOD (Collectif pour la liberation de Cheikh Oumar Diagne) civil society group has called for a protest in Dakar April 16 to demand the release of an anti-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) rights activist. Cheikh Oumar Diagne had recently been arrested and sued for defamation and public insults. Participants will gather from 10:00 at Place de l'Obelisque (also called Place de la Nation).

Security forces will likely deploy to Place de l'Obelisque to monitor the gathering. Localized traffic disruptions are likely in the vicinity.
