Casualties reported following clashes in Nzako, Mbomou Prefecture, Central African Republic, May 21.

Clashes between government troops and rebels from the Alliance des Forces pour la Paix et le Developpement (Alliance of Forces for Peace and Development, AFPD) left at least seven 11 dead and six more wounded in Nzako, Mbomou Prefecture, May 21. The rebels attacked the town from the three sides around 05:00, forcing the government troops to retreat to Bakouma, approximately 60km (37 miles) south of Nzako; it is currently unclear who is in control of Nzako. Government troops repelled a similar attack April 28.
Nzako is located approximately 508 km (315 miles) northeast of the capital, Bangui.

Avoid travel at night and undertake all travel outside of urban centers in convoy and following a full security review of the route. Liaise with trusted sources on the status of routes before departure. Maintain regular contact with diplomatic representations.
