Argentina: Officials ease COVID-19-related domestic measures and international travel restrictions as of June 17 /update 48
Officials in Argentina ease country's COVID-19-related domestic measures and international travel restrictions as of June 17.
Event
Authorities in Argentina have eased the country's COVID-19-related international travel restrictions and domestic measures as of June 17. Travelers are no longer required to be vaccinated or provide a negative PCR test result to enter the country. The City of Buenos Aires has also lifted the requirement to wear a facemask in enclosed spaces.
Domestic Measures
Apart from the City of Buenos Aires, individuals elsewhere in the country must still wear a facemask in some enclosed public spaces, such as public transportation and passenger vehicles. Additionally, authorities may require individuals ages 13 and older to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter venues and events considered high risk, including nightclubs, tours, concerts, and other indoor and outdoor events with 1,000 or more attendees.
Provincial governments and the capital district have the authority to enforce stricter measures where necessary; hence, exact restrictions in effect in some local jurisdictions may differ from national guidelines.
International Travel Restrictions
Incoming travelers must complete an electronic affidavit for the National Directorate of Migration no more than 48 hours prior to departure for the country; however, travelers over the age of 70 can complete it upon arrival. Nationals or residents of Argentina entering the country by land and for less than 24 hours are exempt from completing the electronic affidavit. Nonresident foreign nationals are also required to show evidence of medical insurance that includes COVID-19 coverage; those who are entering the country by land and for less than 24 hours are exempt from this measure.
Authorities recommend that travelers ages six and older who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 take a test within 24 hours after arriving in the country.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Reconfirm all travel arrangements and business appointments. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
