Unionized public workers plan to protest in multiple cities across Rio Negro Province, Argentina, Dec. 12. Disruptions likely.

Warning

Unionized public sector workers affiliated with the Association of State Workers (Asociacion de Trabajadores del Estado, ATE) are planning protests in several cities in the Rio Negro Province on Dec. 12. The protests are to demand increased wages. The number of participants the events may draw remains unclear. Protesters plan to gather at the following locations:

  • Neuquen: On the highway bridges connecting Neuquen and Cipolletti from 07:30.

  • San Carlos de Bariloche: At Plaza Perito Moreno and possibly at the Nireco Bridge; the time of the events remains unclear.

  • Viedma: On the bridges connecting with Carmen de Patagones, Buenos Aires Province, from 08:00.

Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. The protests are likely to prompt transport disruptions between Neuquen and Cipolletti, Viedma and Carmen de Patagones, and near the protest area in San Carlos de Bariloche; business disruptions are possible near the affected areas. Clashes between protesters and police, or protesters and disgruntled drivers, cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the protests as a standard precaution. Plan for delays and alternative routes if operating in Neuquen, Cipolletti, Viedma, and Carmen de Patagones. Do not attempt to cross a roadblock if you encounter one. Heed instructions from authorities.
