Informational

Event

Unionized employees of Paris public transport operator RATP and the national rail operator SNCF will strike in the French capital and the surrounding Ile-de-France Region June 24. Train drivers are striking in support of improved working conditions. Lines A, B, C, and D of the RER network, and lines H, J, K, L, and R of the Transilien network will be affected: this includes connections between central Paris and Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) and Paris-Orly Airport (ORY). One train in two will run at peak times, and one train in three will run during off-peak hours. Disruptions may continue for several hours after the strike has ended. National and international rail services are not subject to strike action.

The labor action will likely prompt significant delays and cancellations across the RER and Transilien networks. While Metro, tram, and bus services will operate as normal, they are likely to experience increased congestion. Additionally, the walkout could result in increased road traffic congestion as commuters resort to the use of privately-owned vehicles or other modes of transportation.

Advice

Reconfirm public transportation schedules if traveling within the greater Paris area June 24. Allow extra time to reach destinations. Reserve taxis and private car hires in advance of the strike due to the potential for higher-than-usual demand on June 24.
