Israeli police apprehended the suspect connected with an attempted stabbing attack in Jerusalem's Old City late June 28. The assailant reportedly tried to stab a police officer at the Council Gate, one of the entrances to the Temple Mount/Al-Haram ash-Sharif complex; no casualties were reported in connection with the assault. Following the attack, police cordoned off the Old City's Damascus Gate and the Temple Mount/Al-Haram ash-Sharif area as security forces deployed in significant numbers to the religious complex to search for the suspect.

Lingering heightened security measures are likely in Jerusalem's Old City into early June 29.
